Attraction Marketing

This type of marketing has three parts:

  1. Create content through which someone finds you.
  2. Get permission to communicate with the person (opt-in list).
  3. Give value to build a relationship and attract the person to a specific offer.

Five steps to building your business using attraction marketing:

  1. Create a base web of content using keywords for which your target market is searching. Generally, you want to start with less competitive keywords and work up to more competitive keywords.
  2. Link to your lead capture page or monetizing sales page from your content.
  3. Keep building content and linking to your content from as many sources as possible.
  4. Market your content to drive traffic to it. You can e-mail your opt-in list about new content. Also, use social networking and bookmarking sites. Not only submit your content, but also post comments on other people’s content and add some content to favorites—you do not want to appear to care only about yourself.
  5. Focus and improve what is bringing the best results.

Note: Building a web of content is an asset because it sets up a funnel through which prospects continually find you.

To help the search engines find your content:

  • Pick one main keyword to focus on in each piece of content.
  • Use that keyword in your title tag.
  • Use that keyword in anchor text.
  • Sprinkle that keyword throughout the text, but don’t over do it. Remember your reader.
  • Market your content, as discussed above.
  • Set up a linking strategy.

Hint: To help get more traffic to pages with highly competitive keywords, link to them from pages with less competitive, but related, keywords.
